Caring for you….
Yes, you! God’s loving care is working to connect you closer to His own heart. At Saint Michael, we offer diverse opportunities designed just for you, your family, and your friends. We believe His light does show the way and we have provided a place and means for you to seek His truth and promises. So whether you seek comfort or knowledge, you will find much of both here. And whether your interest is in leading, supporting, or attending Bible Study, self-enrichment or another special interest group, you will find the following list of daily schedules helpful in making that decision. These sessions are directed by focused and spiritually-led Christian individuals. You are invited and encouraged as a visitor or a congregation to contact either the leader as indicated below for details or call Lori Schwan at 939-1218 ext. 237 “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” -John 12:46
Stephen Ministers are ready to care. Could you benefit from the confidential, one-to-one care and support of a Stephen Minister? Do you know someone else—perhaps a friend, neighbor, co-worker or relative—who could benefit from Stephen Ministry? Please contact the church office or talk with Pastor Jon, Julie Berchtold or any Stephen Leader.

What is a Stephen Minister? (click here to learn more) Our Parish Nurse program can help too
On a confidential basis, she communicates regularly with our Pastor and Caring Ministry leaders to better understand the physical health requirements of individuals, sometimes identifies areas of concern that could lead to potential problems, and works to ensure the individual is getting the proper medical care required. Her responsibilities include the following areas of concern:
- Health Promotion
- Referral and Advocacy
- Visitation
- Facilitate Lay Ministries
- Interpret the Relationship between Faith and Health
- Communication and Documentation
To support these tasks, our Parish Nurse promotes area blood drives and works with other agencies to serve the St. Michael site with flu shots, immunization clinics and developmental screening. Other activities include coordinating volunteers to assist with various programs, making home and nursing home visits to monitor health status and provide emotional support and encourage compliance with medical treatment. She acts as spokesperson when an individual cannot act on their own behalf, meets with families to plan care of individual or counsel members, offers bereavement visits by self or with the clergy staff and submits regular newsletter articles on planned health activities. (As the needs are great, our Parish Nurse program offers blood pressure checks only on an individual case basis.) She participates monthly in the community Parish Nurse Sharing Group to ensure she is current in the demands of the position to fit the needs of this congregation.
